The University of New Hampshire hired engineering firm Woodard & Curran under a design-build contract to replace its aging water treatment plant that was originally built in 1935. A new state-of-the-art facility was designed to treat up to 2 mgd of drinking water for the campus and the neighboring town of Durham, New Hampshire. 

The plant has to adhere to a complex water withdrawal permit to balance the need for potable water and fire protection with a nod to preserving the environment and natural water resources. Starting with one of the three water supplies for the plant, the Lamprey River, the video below goes through the raw water treatment process from start to finish.
